After articling with BLG, Amitha returned to the firm to continue her diverse civil litigation practice with a focus on complex commercial litigation. She has experience in commercial disputes, banking and securities litigation. Amitha also advises on regulatory compliance matters and has experience in commercial arbitrations.
While at law school, Amitha was an executive member of the Black Law Students’ Association, Windsor Chapter, a mentor to prospective law students and a research assistant in the Masters of Business Administration program at the University of Windsor.
Prior to receiving her Juris Doctor in 2018, Amitha worked for several years as a strategic communications advisor and media spokesperson for the Government of Canada in Ottawa.
Amitha is committed to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. She is a mentor within the BLG Law in Action in Schools Program (LAWS) and to students of the Black Law Students’ Association, Windsor Chapter. Amitha is a former board member of the Black Female Lawyers’ Network, a member of the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto and a member of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers. Amitha offers pro bono legal advice through Pro Bono Ontario.
