Andrew practices commercial real estate law, providing legal services to a large cross section of clients.

He provides practical, efficient and timely advice to his clients for all types of commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, leasing, joint venture and development arrangements and financing.

Andrew works closely with real estate professionals and in-house legal counsel of some of Canada's largest commercial players, dealing with their most important real estate issues. These include:

  • Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust,
  • Petro Canada Lubricants,
  • Weston Foods,
  • Bell Canada,
  • Circle-K,
  • Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union, and
  • Stackpole

Andrew also works on key real estate developments for many of Ontario's Hospitals and Colleges, including Niagara Health System, Trillium Health Partners, Scarborough Health Network, and Mohawk College.

Experience

  • Epiroc Canada Holding Inc., a subsidiary of Epiroc Rock Drills AB, in its acquisition of 100% of MineRP Holdings Inc. from Dundee Precious Metals Inc. (TSX: DPM).
  • K+S Aktiengesellschaft in the sale of its Canadian salt business, including Windsor Salt, to Stone Canyon Industries Holdings LLC and affiliates.
  • St. Joseph’s Health System in the sale of its Group Purchasing Organization, a provider of capital equipment and food and nutrition procurement services for the health sector, to Mohawk Medbuy Corporation.
  • Day & Zimmermann of Canada Corporation, a provider of construction, engineering, maintenance, staffing, and defense solutions, on its strategic acquisition  of EMC Power Canada Ltd., provides specialized construction management and multi-discipline trade services for transmission and generation power sector clients.
  • Lead the Canadian Real Estate team for the disposition by K+S Group of its salt business for US$3.2B, including the iconic Windsor Salt mine in Windsor, Ontario.
  • Acted for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, a Connecticut-based casino operator, in the acquisition of Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, and related matters.
  • Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust with respect to a variety of its real property and corporate matters including the financing and refinancing of its large real estate portfolio.
  • Bank of Montreal Life Assurance Company with respect to multiple portfolio acquisitions.
  • Petro Canada Lubricants with respect to a variety real property matters concerning its refineries in Ontario and Newfoundland.
  • The Forestland Group with respect to a significant acquisition of land in Ontario for logging activities.
  • Trillium Health Partners with respect to the purchase of a site for a mixed use development in Mississauga, Ontario.
  • Muskoka Brewery with respect to a lease negotiation and significant upgrade of its home brewery in Bracebridge, Ontario.
  • Niagara Health System with respect to the purchase of the site for its new Regional Hospital in Niagara Falls, Ontario from the City of Niagara Falls.
  • Holly Frontier with respect to its acquisition of the Petro Canada Lubricants business from Suncor Energy.
  • Stackpole International with respect to the purchase of its manufacturing facilities in Ancaster, Mississauga and Stratford in various transactions.
  • Northview Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust with respect to its Plan of Arrangement transaction.
  • Public-private partnership arrangements for large infrastructure projects, from the perspective of both the public and private side of the arrangement.
  • Key stakeholders including private landowners, not-for-profit entities and funders on the development and structuring of Community Hubs.
  • Advised various Ontario public hospitals and colleges in connection with the transfer of its real property assets, liabilities and responsibility for operations to neighbouring public hospitals.
