Matti is an experienced advocate who practices in all areas of commercial litigation.
She has experience representing Canadian and international clients in both domestic and international litigation and arbitrations, handling many cross-border matters.

Matti has appeared before all levels of the Alberta courts, the Supreme Court of Canada, the trial and appeal courts of the Federal Court of Canada, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of the Falkland Islands, and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Matti leads the Environmental Group in BLG’s Calgary office. She is a member of the firm's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiative.

Matti provides legal services through a Law Corporation.

Experience

  • Representing clients in various insolvency matters, including the monitor in cross-border restructurings, the receiver in various Alberta receiverships and creditors in various Canadian insolvency proceedings.
  • Representing clients before the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
  • Representing international oil & gas companies in environmental contamination disputes.
  • Representing clients in relation to intellectual property disputes, including copyright infringement, breach of confidentiality and trademark infringement.
  • Representing clients on environmental aspects of transactions.
